Introducing ‘Wani-Wani Watina’
In collaboration with contemporary Kalkadoon Aboriginal artist, Brooke Sutton, Play Silkies is proud to bring to you 'Wani-Wani Watina'.
Brooke's interpretation of 'Wani-Wani Watina', which in the Kalkadoon language means 'To swim side by side', is a colourful and joyous addition to the Play Silkies collection and is sure to be very popular.
The Kalkadoon people, from the Mount Isa area in Queensland, have a strong connection to the sea as they used to travel north to the gulf country to hunt and gather food. 'Wani-Wani Watina' depicts the graceful agility and beauty of the sea and the sea creatures that have learned to live together with respect.
