The Pteranodon was one of the most giant pterosaurs in the Cretaceous period. The striking bony crest on the rear of its head provided a counterweight to its long beak.
It probably didn't flap its wings very often, but instead took advantage of the wind to glide through the air - similar to an albatross.

Pteranodons and Pterodactyls were different! Whilst they were both winged creatures, Pterodactyls often walked with the help of their hands. Pteranodons had hard heads with a large crest on top whilst Pterodactyls had soft heads.
